About Me

Firstly my profile picture is of my current Ridgie, Adili's Mirror Image, Mirage who is now 8 months old, she is the 6th Ridgeback to own me. I apologize that I don't have a nicer picture of me, as I am the one always taking the pictures, one of these days I will show my dear husband how to work the camera, and have him take one of me!! So for now I will just post Mirage's picture.

I got my first Ridgeback from Alicia Mohr in 1977 and thus started my love affair with the Ridgeback.  I then got two more from Lisa Arvin Hoffman about 17 years ago, and we co-owned them and showed and bred Ridgebacks together for many years, and then I just decided to enjoy my guys in their golden years and took a step back from the active Ridgeback world. Which was a very nice time for them, they were spoiled rotten, then I got ill and they all passed on within 3 years of one another, all  ranging from 12- almost 14 years old..

When I had my pack of, 4 one of those dogs out of my first litter, was my one and so far only SOUL dog, JD, she was just the end all with me. She new me better than I do, she could read my face signals, it was such a shame I never did obedience with her, we would have been a great team, we  we were but in a different way. Maybe one day there will be another, but I am happy to have had the one, so I will just keep on loving and spoiling what ever comes my way.

And  now I have the very active and loving Mirage.

I live in Central NJ for at least another 10 years, then we hope to retire some where less congested, my husband loves to hunt and fish, so it will probably be some where out in the boonies some where, which is good by me, will allow me to have more dogs, more room!! Maybe I will even have another Horse some day, I love to DREAM!!

I promised my husband this go around, that I would not over whelm our small house with Ridgebacks, so this one time I Will appease him :). I will stick to just one dog, for now.

I am permanently disabled, so I get to be home with my dear Mirage full time, I got permanent lung damage  from blood clots after a knee operation, which has caused some other health issues. That along with my Fibromyalgia and arthritis, have zapped me of a lot of life force,  but still have enough to keep busy with my Ridgebacks!  And what is left over goes to my dear husband of 17 years and my two adorable grandkids.

I love my dogs obviously, the computer, I love to go fishing with my husband when I am physically up to it.  My hobbies include reading, gardening, genealogy, macramé, good movies, and experimental cooking!! That last one does not always go well, we then eat soup and sandwich :)!!!. Then there is dog toy sewing service, where in our house looks like a Stephen King book, with stuffed animals that don't resemble stuffed animals anymore, as I sew back together odd parts to save money from my dear Mirage having to KILL all her toys.

That is enough for me these days, well time for dinner, so thanks for reading about me, and maybe we will all meet some day.

Take care,

Donna and Mirage
